Since childhood, I have been addicted to sweets – some might say, ‘obsessed’. It began when I first started baking ginger bread biscuits as a small child. Most of them failed to get past the dough stage of course!

Today, my love of the saccharine is manifested in two hobbies – baking and cake decorating. I’m always looking for new recipes and the best of the classics: cakes, breads, biscuits, scones, jam, slices… My shelves are groaning with cookbooks and mini Everests of pages torn from magazines. This blog will document my experiments with numerous recipes, the triumphs, the surprises and the disappointments.

This blog also serves as a history of the cakes I have created and decorated, the techniques I have tried, failed, and discovered by accident, and the excitement that sugar can create.
